Shrijeet Mishra, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director on the Board of Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL), is an Odia at heart. Born in Cuttack, into a family of bureaucrats, his formative years were spent studying at Delhi, and at DM School and Ravenshaw. He excelled in academics and won the Governor’s Shield for the best student in school. He was well- known in debating circles as well.
Mishra is a Wharton Alumnus and an economics graduate from Hindu College, Delhi, and he completed his management from IIM-Ahmedabad, for which he is extremely thankful for the foundation that was laid at DM and Ravenshaw.
Before joining the Times Group, Mishra spent 24 exciting years at Hindustan Unilever (HUL), where he was part of the management committee of HUL, looking after its foods business as Executive Director (Foods).
Mishra’s work has taken him to various parts of the world. He, however, makes it a point to connect with his roots every year. Mishra takes time off from his busy schedule to visit his extended family in Bhubaneswar and to offer prayers at the temple of Lord Jagannath in Puri. He has always believed that the credit for his success goes to his parents. While at home, Mishra also spends time with the students of Daksheswar School at Athmallik village.
Passionate about education, Mishra is currently spearheading the Times Group’s initiative to launch a world-class university. He is a regular speaker at various management institutes, including IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Calcutta, ISB (Hyderabad) and regularly conducts sessions for Wharton students in Mumbai as well.
Mishra lives in Mumbai with his wife, who is an educationist, and their two daughters.

During his stint with the company, Mishra launched several new brands and helped create new categories. The principal ones amongst these include Lifebuoy Liquid and Gold, Ponds and Vaseline Body Lotions, deodorants and Domex in the home and personal care segment, Knorr Soupy Noodles and Meal Makers, Kissan Soy juice, Kissan creamy spreads, Brooke Bond Sehatmand Tea, Bru Cappuccino, Lipton Green Tea and Lipton Ice Tea in the Foods segment.
Of his 24 years with HUL, Mishra spent three years in the Asia-AMET (Africa, Middle-East (West Asia), Turkey) region as vice-president.
Mishra graduated from Hindu College, Delhi university, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He then went on to complete his post-graduate diploma in business management from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has also completed his advanced management programme at Wharton, USA.
