The Twin City Police Commisionerate has launched an Android App for women safety in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Named ‘Mo Saathi’, the mobile app is designed to help women in distress contact the city cops using their smartphones and call for help.

Download the app here.

How Does it Work?

The messaging and information app provides single click Keys to call or send SMS to your contacts in case of an emergency. The message delivered to the recipient will have your GPS location and this happens with ONE single click. You can reach out to people who can help you during an emergency situation.

Users can create various groups by including contact numbers of their family members, friends and authorities such as local police station, hospitals and toll free emergency helpline numbers. User can then assign such groups to special Keys – SOS, CALL. SOS and Call are available on Home screen for quick access. These actions can be invoked during an emergency situation with a single click or touch.

How to Install the App

Women will have to register their names with the police commisionerate before downloading the app. They will also add mobile numbers of their parents or three friends during registration. Once registered, they will get SMS on their mobile numbers with a download link.

In case of an emergency, the user can send an alert by pressing the power button. The alert would be transmitted to police control room and their parents or three friends.

Earlier this year, the city police had launched mobile app for the residents of the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to enable them to contact police from their smartphones.

Last June, the police had launched women friendly ‘pink auto-rickshaw’ service for hassle-free journey of the women in the city. And in September last year, police started a woman support centre (Maadhyam) to provide counselling, legal and medical support to the women in distress.

Police have also been imparting self-defense training program to working women and college students.
