SpiceJet is going to start its flight operations to Sharjah and New Delhi shortly from the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.
The report of a direct flight from here to Sharjah by SpiceJet has been welcomed by the air travellers as they were forced to either travel to Mumbai or Delhi to connect to international gateways.
Meanwhile, the AirAsia launched its domestic flight services from Biju Patnaik International airport here to Kolkata and Bengaluru from Tuesday.
The AirAsia domestic flight carrying around 100 passengers took off at 12.15 pm from the city airport to Kolkata, where it landed at 1.15 pm. The flight had departed from Kolkata at 8.10 am and arrived at 9.10 am in Bhubaneswar.
Similarly, another flight of the AirAsia departed from Bhubaneswar at 9.35 am to Bengaluru, where it arrived at 11.45 am. Again, it took off at12.10 pm from Bengaluru and landed at 2.30 pm in Bhubaneswar.
Earlier, the AirAsia had started operations from Bhubaneshwar to Kuala Lumpur which is said to have opened up new avenues for people residing in Odisha planning a visit to the Far East and Australia.
