Now, consumers in the capital city can order fish, prawn, crabs, and other sea foods online. Odisha State Fishermen Co-operative Federation (FISHFED) has started online sale of fresh fish through its Chilika Fresh outlets.
The online outlet was launched during a workshop organized by Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The theme of workshop was “Fisheries Development in Odisha: Status, Prospects & Options.”
In the beginning the facility would be available within the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, and will later be extended to other parts of the state. FISHFED officials assure that order items would be delivered within one hour of time after getting the order.
A flat delivery charge of Rs 50 will be added to each order while for bulk purchases, buyers have to place their orders at least 24 hours in advance since the outlet needs to source the fish from fishermen’s co-operatives.
The co-operative is planning to open more Chilika Fresh outlets in Bhubaneswar within the next three months and it also has a plan to open more units through public private partnership in Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
