Odia girl Sunita Garabadu is in seventh heaven since when she has been selected by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to anchor T20 World Cup at Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium at Nagpur.
I cannot explain in words what I feel when my voice echoes all around the stadium. It is a great honour to be selected by ICC and to anchor an international cricket tournament like T20 world cup.
“Anchoring an international cricket championship is no doubt exciting but is equally challenging. You have to be on your toes all the time keeping an eye on the stadium, on players, on audience and constantly cheering them. It requires lots of energy, style, proper accent and of course knowledge of the game,” she said.
According to Sunita, the anchors are given a script before each game, which they follow apart from being totally spontaneous on second to second development of the gamed.
With a powerful and energetic voice, the 26-year-old Sunita has anchored several major sporting events like Indian Premier League (IPL), Champions Trophy Hockey and Hockey India League (HIL).
After completing her graduation from BJB Autonomous College, Sunita did a course from Air Hostess Academy. Besides a popular anchor, she is also a model and worked in several TV serials and in a couple of Odia films.
She has already anchored five qualifying matches of the tournament in the stadium.
