When it comes to holding high-level international seminars and art exhibitions, the exhibition ground and Janata Maidan have always been preferred destinations in Bhubaneswar. Similarly, Soochana Bhawan and Rabindra Mandap have been the hub of cultural activities. But the times have changed and the city is clearly crying for an upgrade, right?
The good news is they have finally woken up to this issue and are now addressing it.
According to news reports, the state government has decided to set up a trade zone and convention center in Bhubaneswar.
The cost of the project has been estimated to be a whopping Rs. 381 crore.
The ambitious project which will come up on nine acres of land at Janata Maidan, will have a 7,000-seater amphitheatre and mega halls for organizing exhibitions, conferences and other cultural activities. Moreover, it will also have facilities for holding international conferences, workshops, seminars, exhibitions and seminars.
The convention centre has been scheduled to be completed in 30 months after commencement of construction work. Headed by the IDCO, the tender for the proposed project will be floated soon.
