According to data released in a global survey conducted by Numbeo, Bhubaneswar is the third least expensive in the list of 446 cities in the world.
As per the figures mentioned in their website, the average rent of a 1-bedroom apartment in city centre is nearly Rs. 10,000 while the same outside the city centre is Rs. 6,000. Similarly, the average rent of a 3-BHK apartment in city centre is Rs. 25,000 while the same outside the city centre is in the neighbourhood of Rs 15,000.
When it comes to food, the average cost of having a meal at an inexpensive restaurant in Bhubaneswar is Rs. 100 while the average cost of a three-course meal for two at a mid-size restaurant is Rs. 500.

The survey findings released earlier this month were based on 804 entries from the city dwellers (you can contribute to the survey on their website) over the last year and a half.
The website ranks cities based on their CPI (Consumer Price Index) which is calculated based on the weighted average of prices of a basket of consumer goods and services including food, transportation and medical care among others.

As per the findings, Bhubaneswar stands at the 3rd position with a score of 25.93 when the data was last updated on their website earlier this month.
The website finds Thiruvananthapuram (21.58) to be the least expensive city in the world followed by Coimbatore (24.50).
