The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) is planning to set up another Ananda Bazaar in a bid to create more space for devotees who can collect and eat Mahaprasad easily.
Decision to this effect was taken at the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee meeting chaired by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb on Saturday in Puri.
It was decided that the proposed Ananda Bazaar would be developed on the land of mutt located on north side of the 12th century shrine.
However, final decision to this effect would be taken after consultation with Suar and Mahasuar Nijogs (servitor groups of temple cooks).
The existing Ananda Bazaar located inside the temple premises is unhygienic as devotees have to eat mahaprasad by sitting on the dirty floor.
Keeping in view the problems being faced by the devotees, the Temple Managing Committee proposed to arrange dining space and proper drainage system.
It was also decided in the meeting that those Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) personnel who have completed six years in service would be resgularised.
Apart from their salary, the JTP personnel would also get Rs 10,000 more as incentive.

SJTA should construct one good quality hotel cum dormitory on the land adjacent to Police Station to accommodate pilgrims. This should be able to accommodate at least 800 to1000 pilgrims.
